Cleansing occurs in the body every day. But we often forget that we also need to clear the “rubbish” from our consciousness.
Why do we need to cleanse and transform the “rubbish” in our consciousness? Because all memories of joy, sadness, positivity, negativity, loss… accumulate in consciousness. If we do not gradually recognize and cleanse distorted memories such as selfishness, hatred, revenge, jealousy… they will become an inner belief system. That belief will follow the stream of consciousness, carrying negative, distorted seeds into the corresponding necessary experiences in subsequent lifetimes.
And Indian people have spiritual rituals associated with a strong belief in purification by drinking water directly from the Ganges — where the dead are cremated. Please explore this ritual further through the candid sharing in The Path — The Path of Awakening.
