The first steps in meditation may be the hardest. Why? Because movement is easy, but stillness is difficult. We are so used to thinking constantly and keeping busy. Our minds hold so many thoughts, like “monkeys leaping between branches,” and we regard this as normal.
But do you know, although we have many thoughts, we do not truly focus on any of them. This not only drains our energy but also affects our ability to concentrate and settle the mind.
So how do you handle many thoughts arising, especially as a beginner in meditation, when observe many thoughts arising during meditation is truly a big question. How do you “release the mind” in meditation? Does only an empty mind count as “release”? What is truly “release the mind”?
